Why We Developed MyDataDictionary

Speaking as a Crystal consultant, it's always been a challenge getting a clear picture of all the databases, tables and fields being used in my reports. And how about links and formulas? The information is in each .rpt file but cannot be viewed from a central location.

Features

MyDataDictionary answers many of your questions as you design new and maintain old reports:

  • An overview of all formulas used in your reports.
  • The ability to maintain your own notes about tables and fields.
  • A central view of all the links you use in your reports.
  • The ability to search for just about any string within tables, fields, stored procedures and even report text fields.
  • The ability to execute stored procedures and browse data.
  • An overview of all your reports and the ability to open them in Crystal.

Feedback from users...

Here's what Phil Sivyer of MacMillan Publishers says about MyDataDictionary:

Carried out some extensive testing today and I think your product is great!

In my current contract, I have built some 200 reports all with variations sitting on different databases - and trying to remember where there is commonality of tables in reports and what fields link to what can be mind numbing.

MyDataDictionary solves this in one hit.

I have made a live connection to one of the test databases and all looks well in terms of …….

  • Connectivity
  • No hanging when browsing the data
  • Opening of reports are immediate
  • Picking up new reports – singly or collectively works fine
  • Set Path to Crystal worked OK
  • Links / Search & Print features worked wonderfully well

To simply type in a field and see all the connecting tables/fields and what reports they are used in is really good.

All in All – EXCELLENT.
